                                             7 November
                                                   Berlin

The symposium "Russian-German scientific cooperation in the Arctic: past, present and future" took place on 7 November 2019 in the Russisches Haus der Wissenschaft und Kultur (Friedrichstraße 176-179, 10117 Berlin) and was part of Berlin Science Week. We organised the event in cooperation with the Arctic and Antarctic Research Institute in St. Peterburg and with support of the Russian Embassy in Berlin.

In this half-day symposium an overview of more than two decades of joint Russian-German research in the Arctic and an outlook into the future was presented. Speakers discussed the scientific outcomes and achievements, but also analyzed the impact of scientific collaboration to address common problems beyond science and to build constructive partnerships. Both, the German and Russian speakers underlined the high motivation to continue the collaboration in the future.

The event is also a contribution to the German-Russian Year of University Cooperation and Research.
